Inspired Legacy
Bee Blunt was born out of my love of fashion and love of my heritage. I have always drawn inspiration from the greatest style icons in my life my mother, grandmothers’ and my great aunt. Each embodying their own unique styles but all having a common thread. Each personified style, grace and quintessential classic American style. Growing up I was that preppy kid with my monogrammed sweaters and pearls. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized where my style DNA came from and how rich the legacies my family matriarchs bestowed upon me.
So much of heritage American fashion is told through the lens of white culture. Bee Blunt gave me the chance to tell that same rich American classic story through the lens of black American culture.
OUR STORY
As an Apparel Industry executive & veteran I had a desire to blend what I do well with what I love and amplify through purpose. I am a designer who loves to tell stories and learn. Creating product is a platform for storytelling and through storytelling we can educate. And that is where I have found my purpose. For years I fought for diverse and inclusive cultures in the athletic apparel & footwear industry. The work of diversity and inclusion is hard and taxing on the soul. But one thing I have learned is that you reach people through shared stories. Sharing our stories have the power to educate and connect at a human level. So instead of the traditional path of DE&I I’ve decided to do things my way. I figured if I can tell the stories that have been left untold we can uncover the beautiful legacy of black American culture and show how rich and beautiful it is through fashion.
When we know better we do better.... At Bee Blunt we believe in active Allyship and more importantly embracing & encouraging allyship. Although we are inspired and driven by the beautiful legacy of Black American Culture we don't exclude anyone from embracing our stories and products and learning. It takes education and awareness to acknowledge behaviors and change them. Our mission is to educate through what we create. As we highlight our culture and bring untold stories to life through product we will be supporting institutions and organizations connected to the stories we tell.
